Approval Process

Federal and state agencies, led by the U.S. Coast Guard, will independently confirm that the project meets rigorous safety, environmental and engineering standards, and all regulations.

The development and operation of BlueOcean Energy will be regulated under the federal Deepwater Port Act.

Over the next year or so, we will consult with federal, state and local agencies as we prepare our Deepwater Port Act license application. We also will undertake numerous studies to provide detailed environmental, safety, engineering and other data for the necessary permits to develop and operate BlueOcean Energy facilities.

Various federal and state agencies will independently review specific aspects of the project over which they have jurisdiction, to ensure the project meets rigorous standards, and all regulations.

Public consultation is a cornerstone of the permitting process.  During their project reviews, federal, state and local agencies will also provide opportunities for public consultation in the form of public meetings and comment periods.

We will host open houses and public meetings. The public will have opportunities to comment, and we will consult with communities and interested parties prior to and throughout the permitting process. We will also make information available to the public through such avenues as printed materials, this Web site and our Clark, New Jersey office.
